About College

Government Arts & Commerce College, Kathlal is located in the fertile region of Charotar. Surrounded by greenery, the college provides a well-developed infrastructure that fulfills the essential requirements of an academic institution. Established in 2012 by the Government of Gujarat, the college initially functioned from Sheth M. R. High School in Kathlal.

Kathlal, a taluka town, is surrounded by villages largely inhabited by the OBC community. Although it is a semi-urban area, the town is well connected with all modern facilities and modes of transportation. Kathlal is also known for the historical monument Kirti Stambh, located at the center of the town. Mahatma Gandhi visited this place during the Independence Movement. Another unique feature of Kathlal is the presence of the rare Kailashpati tree, which has medicinal properties and bears flowers directly on its trunk—an uncommon phenomenon in India.

In 2016, the college moved to a state-of-the-art building constructed with a Model College Grant provided by the Central and State Governments. The institution offers undergraduate programs in both Arts and Commerce, affiliated with Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Kheda District. The B.A. program offers majors in Gujarati, English, History, Sociology, and Sanskrit, while the B.Com. program offers Accountancy as the major subject. Being a government institution, both teaching and non-teaching staff are appointed through a proper selection process conducted by the Government.
